Rocaille Gilded Damask Bed | French Rococo Upholstered Bed with Carved Shell Crest - EKAR FURNITURE
Some beds simply hold a mattress, and then there are beds that hold the entire mood of a room, and the Rocaille Gilded Damask Bed by EKAR FURNITURE is firmly in the second group. Its headboard climbs upward into a carved crest of scrollwork crowned by a shell motif, framed by two fluted posts that rise like columns on either side, so the whole piece reads as a piece of architecture rather than a plain frame. As a premier high-end furniture customization factory, we have shaped this bed for clients who want their master suite to feel like a private chamber in an old European residence, born from our renowned Foshan furniture factory.
The headboard panel between the posts is upholstered in a cream fabric woven with a soft champagne damask, a slow, swirling pattern of leaves and florals that catches the light gently and never shouts. Rather than tufting, the panel is stretched smooth and finished flat, which lets the damask do the talking and gives you a clean, comfortable surface to lean back against with a book. A thin gold inner frame separates the upholstery from the surrounding carved wood, a small detail that keeps the panel looking framed and deliberate instead of simply inserted.
The carving is where the character of this bed lives, worked the way our Foshan custom furniture factory shapes its finest pieces. The crest above the headboard is built from heavy, layered scrollwork that rolls and curls into a central shell ornament at the very top, and the same carved motif returns on the lower rail at the foot of the bed, so the design answers itself from top to bottom. The fluted posts carry vertical grooves along their length, each one crowned with a stylized pineapple finial, and carved flourishes bloom at the base of the posts near the mattress line, giving the frame a rich, hand-worked texture that reads as genuinely bespoke custom furniture.
The bed sits low on four short cabriole legs that curve outward at the knee and settle into scrolled feet, finished in the same warm gilding as the rest of the frame. That antique gold tone is deep and slightly softened rather than bright, so it flatters cream linens, deep velvet throws, and warm terracotta spreads alike, and it plays especially well beside dark wood nightstands or a matching bench at the foot of the bed. As a leading provider of export furniture, EKAR has engineered this bed with a reinforced internal frame, solid headboard joinery, and hardware and finishes built to survive shipping and daily use. Our global reputation is anchored by the high standards of our Foshan export furniture factory, with profound and sustained demand within the India import furniture sector, where clients in Mumbai and New Delhi seek complete bedroom collections with old-world grandeur for luxury residences, villas, and boutique hotels.
